I’ve been invited to give a presentation a the Pioneer Valley Web Summit this Saturday, 8.18, at 1:15.
I’ll be talking about “Type that isn’t tofu; type that isn’t Twinkies.” With a new growth in options for typography online, it’s a great time to appreciate what type can be. Whether using type themselves, or getting the most out of working with designers, web developers can’t afford to ignore (or be afraid of) type. This will be a quick trip through a designer’s typographic kitchen, aiming to de-mystify how designers use (or should use) the way words look.  I’ll include a spoon-full of type taxonomy, a dash of history, a splash of culture, and shove it all in an easily-digested wrap of design.
